The twist in this production of the beloved Stephen Sondheim and George Furth musical is that the commitment-phobic central character, a part written for a man, is here played by a woman—Tony-winner Katrina Lenk (The Band’s Visit). Musical theater legend Patty LuPone co-stars as Joanne, who sings the iconic “Ladies Who Lunch.” Marianne Elliott’s production comes to Broadway after a sellout West End run in 2018. —K.F.
