With her 2002 hit show Movin’ Out, set to the songs of Billy Joel, Twyla Tharp invented the “jukebox ballet.” There was a precedent—her completely gorgeous Nine Sinatra Songs of 1982. Tharp, who’s always been soft on tough guys, clearly didn’t get Sinatra out of her system. In 2010, her latest jukebox ballet, Come Fly Away, returned to his songs. It’s set in a New York City nightclub, where four couples are looking for love. A jazz orchestra plays the music, here led by bassist Chris Minh Doky. —L.J.
