In a new series of drawings and paintings on canvas, Chris Huen Sin Kan creates energetic abstractions that place family members and family dogs amid visual mayhem, almost as if some form of upheaval is occurring across the canvas or about to occur. Inspired by Chinese ink techniques, the artist layers paint in multiple dabs to achieve a multivalent reality, as well as moments of perfect stillness within the chaos. —E.C.
