Charlotte Posenenske: Work in Progress

Oct 18, 2019 – Mar 8, 2020
Plaça dels Àngels, 1, 08001 Barcelona, Spain

“Though art’s formal development has progressed at an increasing tempo,” the radical minimalist Charlotte Posenenske once said, “its social function has regressed.” Known for critiquing art-world norms, this German artist was famous for modular sculptures that could be reconfigured by their owners, and for a practice that allowed her pieces to be replicated without limit. This exhibition brings together Posenenske’s early drawings and paintings, her aluminum wall reliefs and later modular sculptures. It also brings an important artist back into the spotlight. —E.C.
