Mark your calendars! On June 16, 2027, Marin Alsop strikes up the band for the New York Philharmonic’s second annual Celebrate Pride! concert. But don’t let her go stealing the thunder from the top-tier Broadway conductor and arranger Ted Sperling, who gets the ball rolling this year. Tchaikovsky’s on the program with something from Swan Lake. Leonard Bernstein will be heard from, and also Caroline Shaw. The Great American Songbook, we’re apprised, will be well represented. Look for star quality in spades from Jenn Colella (whose Broadway credits reach from Urban Cowboy to Suffs by way of Chaplin and Come From Away) and Noah J. Ricketts (lately Gatsby’s wide-eyed Nick Carraway), with singing-their-heart-out backups from the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus (John J. Atorino, artistic director). —Matthew Gurewitsch
