Black Rabbit

Jude Law as Jake in Black Rabbit.

Gen Z’s obsession with restaurants has gone hand in hand with an interest in chefs—and, of course, restaurateurs. Usually, the focus is on the semantics of food and the dynamics of service—the rush, the heat, the long hours. A new series, created by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, pairs that excitement with the criminal underworld. Jude Law stars as Jake, owner of the New York hotspot Black Rabbit, located near the Brooklyn Bridge, who reluctantly lets his debt-ridden brother Vince (Jason Bateman) back into his life. The brothers are opposites: Jake is prim and polished while Vince is a ticking time bomb. It’s juicy and zeitgeisty—nightlife New York veering toward Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets. —Elena Clavarino
