Barry Le Va

Nov 9, 2019 – May 1, 2020
3 Beekman Street, Beacon, NY 12508, United States

“When I’m working at home or in the studio, I always have the T.V. on,” the sculptor Barry Le Va said in 1997. “I like the sound of voices, and when I walk by, I see the flickering images. It keeps me company.” Flickers of movement and the soothing flat surface of a television screen speak to Le Va’s “dispersal” sculptures, which explore the liminal space between dimensions. His floor-based installations, many of which will be on view at Dia: Beacon, are aesthetically rooted in Minimalism, but challenge Minimalist starkness by scattering loose elements. —C.J.F.
