“Architecture is not static,” says Balkrishna Doshi, who was born in Pune, India, in 1927, and is a Pritzker Prize laureate. “Architecture is dynamic, architecture is fluid. An architect has to be socially, culturally oriented. And you must be humanist.” This retrospective of Doshi’s work, presented in partnership with the Vitra Design Museum of Germany, consists of projects realized between the years 1958 to 2014, from private homes to entire cities. “I can’t create paradise, but I can create a good life.” Doshi has spoken. —L.J.
