Asia Week New York

Vasant Ragini Murshidabad, Bengal, India, c. 1755.

Mar 16–24, 2023

The Princeton curator Zoe S. Kwok calls Asia Week “the most important annual event in Asian art outside of Asia.” This year’s edition, the 14th, sees gallery openings and pop-ups scattered around the city. From Mid-Edo period vessels to contemporary Indian paintings, works on view span all epochs and categories of South and East Asian art. Alongside the exhibits, six auction houses—Bonhams, Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Doyle, Heritage Auctions, and iGavel—are mounting sales. Debut exhibitors this year include Buddhist Art, a gallery based in Berlin, and Tokyo’s Shibunkaku. —Elena Clavarino
