Arte Povera (Impoverished Art) is an Italian movement of the 60s and 70s. United against the commercialized art world and the materialism of postwar Italy, these artists used “poor” materials like rags, soil, twigs, and recycled metal to express rebellion. This group show features 12 Italian artists associated with Arte Povera, and displays the range of each as well as the diversity of mediums within the movement. —C.J.F.
