Anna Weyant’s story is unprecedented. Three years ago, one of her drawings sold for around $400. In June of this year, she sold a painting for $1.6 million. At age 27, she’s Gagosian gallery’s youngest artist. Weyant hails from Calgary, Canada, and moved to the U.S. to study fine art at the Rhode Island School of Design. When she started posting her large-scale, hyperrealist works on Instagram, the world took notice. Her striking paintings employ a somber, muted palette, and take compositional features from Dutch Masters and 20th-century pioneers. This exhibition presents recent work. —Elena Clavarino
