For those who miss the repertory programs that were once the coin of the realm at American Ballet Theatre, the company’s fall season at Lincoln Center’s Koch Theater is consoling. The first two weeks are filled with programs of three to four works each—the matinee on October 6 has five! The ballets are a mix of new works (by Kyle Abraham and Gemma Bond) and A.B.T. staples: among them, the company showcase Études; George Balanchine’s court portraiture Ballet Imperial; Twyla Tharp’s aerobically ascendant In the Upper Room; the snowcap nirvana of La Bayadère’s “Kingdom of the Shades”; and a Balanchine rarity, his Sylvia Pas De Deux from 1950, a quiverful of cupid’s arrows in the form of arabesques. Week three returns to the full-length format, with the world premiere of Helen Pickett’s Crime and Punishment. —Laura Jacobs
