Albert Watson is perhaps best known for fashion photography (since 1976, he has shot over 100 Vogue covers and 40 for Rolling Stone), and inventive celebrity portraits (including a 19-year-old Kate Moss covered in netting, and Alfred Hitchcock holding a plucked goose). His landscape photographs, though less known, are equally imaginative. Watson grew up in Edinburgh, and in 2013, in what he describes as his most personal project, he visited the Scottish Isle of Skye to document the familiar terrain. Rugged mountains. Wild forests shrouded in mist. These images capture a mysterious, moody, surreal world that’s a far cry from the commercial niche Watson typically inhabits. Breathtaking! —Paulina Prosnitz
