A Journey Through Time: The Cartiers and Their Clocks

Streaming on Zoom

No virtual auction can replace the charged energy that comes with the real thing, and Christie’s doesn’t pretend otherwise. Rather, to celebrate its sale of the largest collection of Cartier clocks in the auction world, “A Lifetime of Collecting: 101 Cartier Clocks,” Christie’s Geneva jewelry specialist Marie-Cecile Cisamolo offers something unique: a Zoom tour of the collection. Highlights include a sleek Belle Epoque Planet Day and Night clock, estimated to sell for CHF 140,000 (about $148,000), and a playful Art Deco desk clock, estimated at CHF 90,000–130,000 (about $95,000–137,000). The offerings are accompanied by colorful background stories supplied by Francesca Cartier Brickell, the great-great-granddaughter of company founder Louis-François, and the author of the recently published The Cartiers. —J.V.
