Chosen from submissions by approximately 200 American musicians—young talent emerging on the national scene and raring for recognition—new work from six composers will each receive a “reading” by the American Composers Orchestra. Now in its 29th year, the Underwood New Music Readings has become a vital proving ground, with “reading composers” going on to win awards, acclaim, and important careers. The oldest in this year’s selection, Anthony R. Green, was born in 1984, and the youngest, Paul Novak, in 1998. Come hear the work now, so you can say you knew them when. —L.J.
