At 18, when Noah Beck was a freshman at the University of Portland, he posted his first TikTok, a nine-second clip in which he lip-synched to DaBaby. The next morning, he had 20,000 followers. Four years and dozens of shirtless TikToks later, he’s up to 33.5 million. Beck’s boyishness and aversion to scandal make him compelling on apps, where petty dramas fester. That and his perfect boy-next-door look. Now 22, Beck is a regular at fashion shows and has his own underwear line, Iphis. His nighttime routine is as wholesome as you’d expect.
When do you start getting ready for bed?
I value my sleep more than the next guy. I try to make sure I’m winding down around 10 p.m., unless it’s a night out. I like going out in moderation. If I did it every night, I’d be a wreck.
If I’m at home in L.A., I dim the lights and start creating a night vibe. I blow out the candles—I love candles, so I usually have candles on throughout the day. I usually shower every night.
Take us through your skin-care routine.
For the longest time, I was on a Shiseido kick. I loved Shiseido, and I still do, but I wanted to mix it up a little. I started to use this brand called Eminence. It’s organic materials, so I literally feel like I’m putting fresh fruits and plants on my face because it smells so good.
I’ll cleanse in the shower—I don’t like getting my face wet again after the shower. I usually cleanse twice at night. As soon as I get out, I will use the Stone Crop Hydrating Mist. Then I’ll use the Bamboo Firming Fluid. Then I have vitamin C stuff, also from Eminence. I’ll seal it in with the acai-berry moisturizer.
Are you on your phone before bed?
I’m a victim of scrolling on social media. It’s a nice little nightcap for me. I know it’s like, Oh, don’t go on your phone an hour before bed, but I feel like I’d be psychotic if I didn’t. With the job I do, I have to be in the now and see what’s going on. I’ll check Instagram and TikTok. I’ll peek at X, but X scares me sometimes. Then I’m on Snapchat.
Tell us about your pajamas.
Funny you ask. I just wear underwear. And those underwear happen to be Iphis, which is my brand. We have three waistbands out right now. I reserve our heritage band for bed. I really like soft sheets, so I’d rather feel [them] than pajamas.
What kind of sheets do you use?
Charcoal linen sheets from Pottery Barn. I don’t even have a bed frame right now. I know it sounds crazy, but I literally just have a mattress because my house is under renovation.
I don’t do outside clothes on the bed. I don’t touch my bed other than when I’m sleeping in it. I’m never just hanging out in my bed. It’s a sacred place.
On to your sleeping conditions …
I have to be freezing. I like to keep it around 65. I just love to bundle up in the sheets. When you’re hot, you have to take things off. Then what happens when you’re hot and you have everything off? Then you’re just hot.
Most bizarre nighttime habit?
I feel like this sounds pretty douchey, but I’ll just crank out 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups, then I’ll feel like I’ve earned my sleep.
Favorite place to sleep?
I had an amazing sleep recently in my grandpa’s cabin, in Pinetop, Arizona. It was freezing, and we opened the doors and the windows. By the morning, some snow trickled into the room.
