Chris McMillan: The Glassy Smooth Hair Oil
I am not a hair-oil person, but Chris McMillan, the L.A. hairstylist best known for his work with Jennifer Aniston, has converted me with his not-slippery, not-oily, not-greasy new concoction. “People are afraid of oil,” he said at a press event, looking directly at me and my lank, fine hair. “So I did a mist that’s soft.” His new Glassy Smooth Hair Oil is a mist that’s as light as a whisper. You can spritz it on your ends or, if you’re not me, all over your head. And if you’re especially timid (ahem), squirt it in your hands and skim them over your frizz. It adds a little shine, moisture, heat protection, and control. “It’s not intimidating,” he says. It also has a beachy coconut-vanilla scent that McMillan describes as “not obnoxious.” I agree. Summer Fridays: Sunlit Vanilla Eau de Parfum
Doesn’t the idea of a warm, sunlit fragrance sound tempting right about now, when the days are getting longer and the snow just might become a memory? To hurry things along, you could give yourself a few shots of Summer Fridays’ first fragrance, Sunlit Vanilla Eau de Parfum. It’s a delicious blend of caramel and, yes, vanilla, with a bit of soft amber and musk to round things out. The scent actually grew out of the brand’s Lip Butter Balm. Imagine soft serve combined with crème brûlée in perfume form. ($82, summerfridays.com)
