After two years of waiting, the final six episodes of Yellowstone have finally arrived. The first half of Season Five (which premiered in November 2022) saw the Duttons gearing up, once again, for an existential civil war. But last June, Costner, who plays the ranch patriarch John Dutton, officially announced that he would not appear in the second half of the season due to scheduling conflicts with his Horizon saga. And so the spotlight turns toward the rest of the Dutton clan: John Dutton’s steely daughter, Beth (Kelly Reilly), the loyal ranch foreman, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and the family’s eternal black sheep and current enemy no. 1, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley). The stakes are high in this Succession-style showdown for the Yellowstone Ranch. “Our family legacy is this ranch,” Beth says in the trailer. “And I’ll protect it with my life,” promises Rip. —Paulina Prosnitz
