Vincent van Gogh is beloved around the world, but it’s still rare to view a large selection of his masterpieces at the same time in any given city. Crowds fill his eponymous museums in the Netherlands, and masterpieces such as Starry Night—the star of MoMA’s Gallery 502—attract a stream of viewers to the museum’s third floor. In Milan, a rare exhibition presents 40 Van Goghs from the Kröller Müller Museum. Among the highlights are studies for the heads and figures of The Potato Eaters, and the late paintings Pine Trees in the Garden of the Asylum, Olive Grove with Two Olive Pickers, and Tree Trunks in the Grass. —Elena Clavarino
