The Swiss-born Urs Fischer brings a subversive wink to his art. For example, for the Bourse de Commerce opening in 2021, Fischer created a colossal wax sculpture of Giambologna’s The Abduction of the Sabine Women. Then he lit it and let it slowly melt. That was real wax, but more recently he’s been playing with digital wax, clay, steel, paint, and dirt. Fiddling around on the computer, Fischer has fashioned these materials into sculptures—and then fashioned the sculptures into short-form videos. The effect, as he says, is an “uncanny collision of things.” This exhibition is comprised of these new works, and also features indoor musical performances. —Elena Clavarino
