In the early 1990s, Thom Yorke proclaimed himself a “weirdo” on Radiohead’s hit single “Creep,” a song that seemed to presciently puzzle over its own future mainstream ascendance: “What the hell am I doing here?,” Yorke laments. But at that time, not belonging was the essence of belonging. And so Yorke reclaimed the band’s strangeness on the group’s next album, 1997’s OK Computer—a dystopian, sci-fi-infused study of alienation, and a critical darling that lost listeners while securing many loyalists. Yorke’s work has become emboldened as he’s matured into an ever-weird yet ultra-famous artist. On tour, he revisits his solo albums with visual accompaniment from the artist Tarik Barri. —C.J.F.
