“It may be said with some degree of assurance,” said the producer and host of “The Twilight Zone,” Rod Serling, “that not everything that meets the eye is as it appears.” Urbanely ominous, Serling’s comment is almost comforting these days. Airing 60 years after the hit television series’s original Season Two, its remake—developed by Simon Kinberg and Jordan Peele—offers an up-to-date take on an evergreen theme: the strangeness of the modern world. —J.V.
