“Literature adds to reality, it does not simply describe it,” said C. S. Lewis, author of the 1950 children’s classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe—the first in his seven-book “Chronicles of Narnia” series. In 1984 Lewis adapted the book for the theater, bringing his magical reality to the stage. Since then, stage productions of the tale have been wildly successful, as was the case with Leeds Playhouse’s production in 2017. For this new production, presented by the London Theatre Company, the Playhouse has reunited the team of 2017. —J.V.
