Filmmaker Ondi Timoner is a two-time winner of the Sundance Film Festival’s Documentary Grand Jury Prize. She’s covered stories that range from the afterlife of once-promising rock bands to the Internet pioneer Josh Harris. Now she’s trained her camera on a death in the family. The heart-wrenching film takes place in the final days of her father’s life. Eli Timoner founded Air Florida, which was the fastest growing airline in the 1970s. Into a life of achievement came a stroke that left him partially paralyzed. Forty years later, at 92, he decided to terminate his life, which is allowed in California after a 15-day waiting period. The film focuses on those 15 days, and shows the joy that can come at the end of a life well lived. —Clara Molot
