The Middle Ages conjures visions of castles and kings, knights and armor, feuds and feasts. These days more than ever, that world has invaded and shaped popular culture—think Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. This exhibition, divided into three sections, examines different facets of the age. “The Medieval Imagination,” looks at the ties between reality and fantasy. “A Magical Middle Ages” tracks the emergence of fairies, goblins, and wizards into pop culture. In the third section, the subject is King Arthur, Merlin, and the idealism that was the raison d’être of the legendary Round Table. —Elena Clavarino
