India’s painted and printed cottons are the perfect metaphor for a world woven together as one. These gorgeous florals and toiles, called “Indiennes” but also known as “chintz,” were desired around the globe. In this exhibition, the Royal Ontario Museum looks at India’s textile innovations and inventive design motifs, its influence on fashion, and the way these colorful, covetable cottons connected cultures. —L.J.
