Spell it out and it reads “The European Fine Arts Fair.” TEFAF is one of the world’s preeminent organizations for fine art, antiques, and design, and it runs three fairs every year: one in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and two in New York City, spring and fall. Back for its fourth year, TEFAF New York Fall opens on November 1, in the hallowed halls of the Park Avenue Armory. For five days the fair celebrates fine and decorative arts from antiquity to 1920 (the spring fair focuses on modern and contemporary work). Over 80 international galleries are involved. And it’s quite the glamorous spectacle! As the New York Times pointed out, this fair “has matured from an experiment into an appointment.” —E.C.
