An iconic 80s band, Stray Cats is known for reviving the rockabilly sound during an era where synths, pop, and dance music were taking over the charts. “Rock This Town,” “Stray Cat Strut,” or “Rumble In Brighton” might catch your ears and are just a few of the hits they’ve put out. The three-piece rock band was formed in Long Island by Brian Setzer (guitar/vocals), Lee Rocker (upright bass), and Slim Jim Phantom (drums). The trio bonded over their love for rockabilly music, and before they knew it, they were off to London where a revival movement was starting. Forty-five years later, the Stray Cats are still keeping the flame alive. They released a live album in 2020 proving that they still have their chops. So if you’re missing the sound, catch the band at Capitol Theatre or one of the many other stops on this national tour. —Henry McGrath
