Susan Grant Lewin started collecting jewelry because of the sleek, minimal designs of the Swedish silversmith Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe. Inspired by Torun Bülow-Hübe’s sterling necklaces and earrings, Lewin began to build an archive of international art jewelry, beginning with work from the 1950s and moving to the present. This exhibition trains the spotlight on Lewin’s rings, with over 100 from her vast collection on display. To emphasize the range of ring designs, the jewelry is divided into six groups that contrast symmetry with free form, density with lightness, and smooth with sharp. —J.D.
