Read Fahrenheit 451 and you’re unlikely to ever forget it. The setting of Ray Bradbury’s 1953 novel, an imagined society where books are outlawed and discovered strays burned, is jarring. To celebrate the centennial of the American writer’s birth, the Ray Bradbury Foundation partners with the Library of Congress, the L.A. Public Library, and the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for a nationwide reading of Fahrenheit 451. Writers, librarians, and young readers are taking part, and highlights include passages read by Neil Gaiman, Susan Orlean, William Shatner, and Marlon James. —J.V.
