Michelangelo Pistoletto—the Italian painter and art theorist, Arte Povera pioneer and 2025 Nobel Peace Prize Nominee—makes art that questions perception and point of view. In the exhibition “Picasso/Pistoletto,” 15 new pieces from his “Mirror Painting” series are placed among Cubist works by the great Pablo Picasso, the first time these two artists have conversed visually. “Art has always had the same function: to reflect society alongside developments in religion, politics, economy, social organization,” Pistoletto told Interview magazine in March 2025. “But perhaps never with such clarity.” Very different reflections of reality energize this show. —Henry McGrath
