OMG. Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rehearsal) is back in repertory during the Paul Taylor Dance Company’s two weeks at Lincoln Center. Premiered in 1980, the dance is one of the most brilliant that Taylor ever unleashed. Using Igor Stravinsky’s score in a two-piano reduction, and playing with the idea of black and white in sound and in cinema, he allows the puzzle pieces of a dance rehearsal to accumulate into a sort of pre-Code Hollywood crime story. It’s an amazing achievement. That said, the program is stuffed with amazing works: the apocalyptic Last Look, the gentle Eventide, the sizzling Piazzolla Caldera, the sociological Cloven Kingdom, the transcendent Esplanade. Added to the Taylor rep is a world premiere, Drum Circle, by Larry Keigwin, whose witty command of vernacular is so Taylor. Another world premiere, Echo, comes from Lauren Lovette, a New York City Ballet ballerina who chucked the spotlight so she could make the steps rather than dance them. Works by Ulysses Dove and Amy Hall Garner are also new to the company. —Laura Jacobs
