Alec Baldwin is returning from exile. After the tragic accidental shooting on the set of Rust, which he starred in and produced, he’s taking part in a benefit event for the Lee Strasberg Cultural Center. An alumni of the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, Baldwin joins actors such as Debra Messing and Susie Essman for a reading of five new one-act plays by John Patrick Shanley, who’s best known for writing the New York classic Moonstruck. The reading will help fund the center’s cultivation of emerging actors. With prominent actors supporting the next generation of talent, it’s a symbolic passing of the torch. —Maggie Turner
