Oscar Murillo: News

Oct 19 – Nov 28, 2020
108 Rue Vieille du Temple 75003 Paris, France

In 2014, in his first solo exhibition, the Colombian-born and London-based artist Oscar Murillo transformed David Zwirner’s New York gallery into a chocolate factory, a nod to a plant in Murillo’s hometown of La Paila. When the coronavirus came, the artist moved back to La Paila, where he remained through the summer months. As he did in 2014, Murillo has been documenting, through his art, the social and political turmoil in Colombia and around the globe. These paintings are darker, more sinister, and catch the desperation that has come to characterize the year 2020. —E.C.
