The Arts Intel Report

Orlando, by Olga Neuwirth

Dec 8–20, 2019
Opernring 2, 1010 Wien, Austria

No stranger to male roles from Handel’s Julius Caesar to Strauss’s Rosenkavalier, the mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey is equally at home in skirts. In Olga Neuwirth’s operatic adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s most fanciful narrative, she gets to go gender fluid, moving seamlessly (no intermission!) from lad to lady. —M.G.
