The Moab Music Festival celebrates music and the great outdoors. Apart from a three-day, into-the-wild, Bach-meets-whitewater special (see separate listing), there are 11 concert programs to choose from. Highlights include Beethoven’s “Hammerklavier” Sonata in a grotto (September 9), a music hike to include John Luther Adams’s The Wind In High Places (September 12), and a point-counterpoint choral finale juxtaposing sacred works by Bach and American spirituals, among them “My Lord, What a Morning,” “Deep River,” and “Give Me Jesus” (September 14). —M.G.
