In Meet the Cartozians, a new play by Talene Monahon, two entirely different casts populate two seemingly different acts. The first act, set in 1920s Oregon, sees an Armenian immigrant fighting for legal status in the U.S. In the second act, set 100 years later, his descendant battles for social media followers and a skilled glam squad. Worlds apart? Perhaps not. “They’re still arguing about the very same things,” says the starring actor Will Brill (Stereophonic). David Cromer directs Monahon’s commentary on whiteness in America. —Jeanne Malle
