Medea

Jan 12 – Mar 8, 2020
321 Ashland Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA

As you may recall, in Greek mythology Medea is the daughter of King Aeëtes of Colchis, the niece of Circe, and the granddaughter of Helios, the sun god. She’s powerful. And she commits a horrific premeditated crime of passion. In Simon Stone’s update of 2014—a sensation in Europe—Medea is now a scientist who, while losing her husband to a younger woman, has lost her mental balance, her job, and the custody of their two sons. The play begins with her return from an asylum. The BAM performances star Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale, a couple in real life, as Medea and Jason—now named Anna and Lucas. —L.J.
