It’s often summed up in two words—male swans—but Matthew Bourne’s megahit of 1995 is one of the most persuasive rethinks (and updates) of a classic ballet ever. This Swan Lake is giddy dance theater, with staging so inventive even the sets seem alive and dancing. The production has been refreshed for its return tour. And New York audiences get the added thrill of seeing Royal Ballet principal dancer Matthew Ball starring as that dangerously attractive “other”—The Swan. —L.J.
