L'École Evening Conversations

Feb 16–18, 2022

To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Paris’s L’École, School of Jewelry Arts, which is supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, is presenting two talks on the history of jewelry. Hosted by L’École historians Inezita Gay-Eckel and Paul Paradis, the first talk explores the art of crafting gold, specifically focusing on the four primary techniques artisans use to make gold goods such as brooches, rings, and necklaces. The second talk looks to the Middle Ages and highlights the the ecclesiastical inflections in jeweled objects and adornments, from wedding rings to small religious reliquaries. The talks are in person, but also available for live streaming. —J.D.
