The Los Angeles lawyer Sara King lived a high-rolling life. When her crimes finally caught up to her, she was taking a bubble bath in a luxury villa at the Vegas Wynn Hotel, where she lived full-time with her husband, the Iranian prince Kamran Pahlavi. Known on the casino floor as “the slot-whisperer,” King had gambled more than $5 million in six months on the slots. The money, it turns out, was taken from investors in her sham loan business. The tabloids dubbed her “the Anna Delvey of OC.” She called herself “Lady Mafia.” A new podcast hosted by the journalist Michele McPhee investigates King’s giddy rise and shocking fall, with help from King herself. —Paulina Prosnitz
