When Jenny Saville was growing up in England, she found her eyes wandering to fleshy forms—Titian’s women, her teacher’s breasts, and the folds of her own skin. “I just automatically pull out forms,” she has said. “It’s an instinct I’ve got as part of my nature.” Saville’s painted explorations capture the weight, tension, and physicality of the body with thick, gestural brushstrokes. This exhibition, Saville’s first solo show in Austria, surveys her brilliant career. —Elena Clavarino
