January Dialogues

It’ll be months, perhaps years, before we get a concise picture of the coronavirus pandemic’s effects on the world. But even in the middle of it, some things have become clear, such as the interconnectedness of seemingly disparate world issues: climate change, race and gender disparities, and the future of work. A new virtual series from Goals House, which brings together influential figures across countries and industries, examines these connections with live panels, fireside chats, and video screenings. For instance, “Work Reimagined” is moderated by The Economist’s Vijay Vaitheeswaran. “How can we ensure no country is left behind in the fight against Covid-19?” opens with remarks by Antonio Guterres, U.N. Secretary General, and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization. And firesides include Henrietta Fore, executive director of UNICEF, on the future of education, and Princess Eugenie and Julia de Boinville, co-founders of the Anti-Slavery Collective, on their mission to combat modern-day slavery and human trafficking. —J.V.
