What if a 16th-century cabinet of curiosities danced with 21st-century technology? You might have an installation by Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, artists who have worked together for 30 years. Now at the Museum Tinguely—named for the Swiss kinetic artist Jean Tinguely—the exhibition “Dream Machines” offers a comprehensive overview of the duo’s multimedia creations. Whether it’s an interactive soundscape (2001’s The Forty Part Motet), a dystopian nightmare in three dimensions (2007’s The Killing Machine), or an intricate otherworldly vision bathed in blue (2021’s Escape Room), Cardiff and Miller find their way into wormholes between realities. —Laura Jacobs
