For the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani museum, veteran designer Patrick Kinmoth and World of Interiors editor Hamish Bowles have teamed up on an exhibition that explores the ways traditional Indian dress, fabrics, and craft have influenced Western fashion design. Creations by couturiers Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent are shown with their Indian counterparts—garments by designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Sanjay Garg. Saris and dhotis from Kashmir hang alongside muslins and chintzes from the Coromandel coast. In the same museum, don’t miss the show “Confluence,” curated by Jeffrey Deitch and Ranjit Hoskote, which celebrates the works of contemporary artists influenced by the peninsula. Beware: art and fashion crowds will collide in the corridors! —Elena Clavarino
