Mozart’s breakthrough opera Idomeneo, which premiered two days after he turned 25, in 1781, proudly showcases everything he had learned touring Italy, notably Naples, as a child prodigy. It is set in Crete, just after the Trojan War, and its story is taken from myth (Neptune and Electra are characters). This production boasts a promising cast that includes tenors Charles Workman and Joel Prieto, and soprano Rosa Feola. —L.J.
