Home Stories: 100 Years, 20 Visionary Interiors

Mar 27 – Aug 22, 2021
Jan Breydelstraat 5, 9000 Gent, Belgium

In the last 100 years, lifestyle changes have driven the swift evolution of urban and suburban interiors. In the 1920s, increases in population led to smaller spaces. In the 1950s, technological innovation required room for revolutionary home appliances. And in the 1960s, mass production saw a swell of informal objects invading living spaces. This exhibition looks at societal, political, and technological shifts through 20 iconic interiors, the work of designers and artists such as Adolf Loos, Elsie de Wolfe, Finn Juhl, Lina Bo Bardi, Cecil Beaton, Andy Warhol, and Assemble. —E.C.
