Grayson Perry: Fitting In and Standing Out

Grayson Perry, Selfies with Political Causes, 2018.

Nov 11, 2022 – Mar 26, 2023
Pb. 7014 St. Olavs plass N-0130 NORWAY Oslo

Grayson Perry’s Twitter bio reads, “Artist, broadcaster, transvestite, worshipper of teddy bears, lecturer, telly addict, likes being on two wheels.” (That last refers to motorcycles.) Funny and fearless, Perry has been making art that comments on English social mores since the 1980s, when his career began, and brings a colorful satiric touch to issues of class, sexuality, and consumerism. At 62, he’s now something of a national treasure. Perry’s paintings, tapestries, and his contemporary riffs on classical vases are all part of his first solo show in Norway. —Jensen Davis
