“I like the indefinite, the boundless,” the German artist Gerhard Richter said in 1966. “I like continual uncertainty.” Richter’s new and recent work is still indefinite and uncertain. After announcing, in 2017, that he would stop making oil paintings, Richter turned to works on paper. Both mediums are included in this exhibition, which features abstract paintings produced in 2015, digitally created “Strip” paintings from 2011, never-before-shown drawings (described in The New York Times as having “a delicacy reminiscent of Ingres”), several Spiegel installations, and a selection of pieces made with lacquer behind glass. —Jeanne Malle
