“I am the daughter of all the voices that came before / I am the mother of all the voices that will come after.” So sings Gal Costa—in Portuguese, and in simple truth—in the course of this retrospective, which begins with Tropicália—the Molotov caipirinha that Costa and friends tossed at Brazil’s junta in the 1960s—and ends with a burst of defiant, carnivalesque joy against the resurgent dark. Her tour will make stops in London, Dublin, and Paris, and ends in Lisbon on April 11. —E.E.
